PSB Academy clinches SBR National Business Awards in Education

Its self-funded Future Together Initiative provides financial support to local students in Singapore amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic situation.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the global economy. This has led to the growth of some industries while others were unable to survive the crisis.

At the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Singapore and many societies faced a health crisis and economic recession. With the education sector suffering a tremendous blow from the crisis, current and prospective students and/or their parents whose livelihoods were impacted by the pandemic and their ability to keep pace on education financing were threatened.

In August 2020, PSB Academy launched the Future Together Initiative – a $3 million self-funded initiative that aims to provide financial support to local students in Singapore amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic situation. The goal of the campaign was to educate and inform local students and professionals about the financial support rendered and the partnerships involved. By doing so, PSB Academy sought to support individuals who are keen to embark on their studies or resume them with greater peace of mind.

Through this initiative, PSB Academy aims to equalise opportunities for every youth across the region and give them the best head start to compete in the global economy.

PSB Academy stepped up partnerships with companies and other institutions across disciplines such as Accounting and Finance, Engineering, Cyber Security, Business Management, Biomedical, and Sports Sciences, to provide internships or job opportunities for fresh graduates looking to start their careers, or mature graduates managing mid-career moves and career switches during this period.

PSB Academy, which believes that learning should not stop in times of crisis, was guided by three themes:

1. Corporate impact – As the leading private education institution in Singapore, PSB Academy aims to provide quality education to shape and nurture future-ready graduates.
2. Social impact – PSB Academy connects students to industry, and industry to students.
3. 21st Century impact – PSB Academy students and graduates are equipped with the necessary skills and tools to stay relevant in a digital-driven economy and outlook in Asia and beyond.

The S$3 million Future Together Initiative was launched in August 2020 to benefit students that commenced their courses between 1 August to 31 December 2020 in the form of tuition fee waivers, fee guarantees, study credits, rebates, and grants until the end of 2020. Students enrolled in selected certificate and diploma programmes would have enjoyed a waiver of their first term course fees, and students enrolled in selected bachelor’s degree and postgraduate courses were eligible for grants and rebates.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
