ZOLL Medical recognised at the SBR International Business Awards 2022

The ZOLL AED AR (augmented reality) web application allowed safe and contactless training sessions and product demonstrations.

ZOLL Medical Corporation is a pioneer in resuscitation technology and is in the business of saving lives. The company develops and markets medical devices and solutions that help advance emergency care and save lives. 

ZOLL is the only manufacturer to develop automated external defibrillators (AED) with US FDA-approved "Real CPR Help®" technology, which guides bystanders and first responders in performing high quality cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to improve survival outcomes of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) victims.

Currently, in the United States, 356,000 sudden cardiac arrest cases are reported annually, of which 90% are fatal. In Asia Pacific, awareness of high-quality CPR and the use of AEDs is increasing, but slowly.

The capabilities of ZOLL AEDs in guiding bystanders to provide high-quality CPR is best demonstrated in-person and hands-on for the customers to truly grasp the strength of ZOLL products. However, the AED industry, was deeply disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, when face-to-face training and product demos came to an abrupt halt. And it became clear that virtual webinars would not suffice.

To address the problem, the ZOLL APAC marketing team in Singapore introduced an AED AR web app to virtually connect sales teams and customers.

The tool enabled ZOLL to provide safe and contactless training sessions and product demonstrations, which in turn increased AED sales, contrasting the company’s gloomy forecast of a sales decline during the pandemic.

How does it work? The web app simulates a sudden cardiac arrest situation, teaching customers how to respond to an emergency. It also demonstrates how ZOLL Real CPR Help® ensures delivery of high-quality CPR. 

The app's AR features simulates a life-sized AED to help customers understand the logistics of placing a ZOLL AED in their facility.

Since the app launched in December 2020, the ZOLL AED business in APAC has gotten back on track, and managed to achieve sales target even though many countries’ economy was still closed. The AR web app contributed to three major regional deals, in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia -- with all product demonstrations and training done entirely online.

With that, ZOLL Medical took home the SBR International Business Awards 2022 in the Healthcare category. The SBR International Business Awards 2022, presented by Singapore Business Review, gives recognition to the outstanding projects of foreign companies in Singapore.
