Datasite snags Technology Excellence Award for Fintech - Mergers & Acquisitions

Its Prepare™ app can save dealmakers countless hours preparing documents for due diligence with a single click.

Empowering dealmakers around the world with the tools they need to succeed across the entire mergers and acquisitions (M&A) deal lifecycle, Datasite, a leading software as a service (Saas) company, introduced its Prepare app in 2020. This lets dealmakers organize and share deal documents and artifacts before they become part of the diligence process. Leveraging on artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, Prepare is part of the Datasite suite of applications, which solve administrative and process problems across every phase of managing the M&A lifecycle.

Trained on three million deal documents and with an M&A vocabulary of over 400,000 words, Datasite Prepare enables the upload of hundreds or thousands of files and their review by an AI engine, which reads the files and suggests categories, as well as appropriate folder locations, for the files. AI and machine learning streamline the process in a matter of minutes, freeing up dealmakers to focus on higher-value activities.

Datasite Prepare can also be used to help support enhanced cooperation amongst dealmakers across borders and languages. Whilst a majority of M&A documents are in English, Datasite Prepare is soon expanding to support other languages. This means that dealmakers can quickly see and get the information they need in the language they prefer to make informed decisions quicker.

Once documents have been prepared, they can then be easily and securely transitioned with a single click to Datasite Diligence, a virtual data room (VDR) app, that allows for collaboration. Dealmakers can use Datasite Diligence to build an index and set up permissions, for example, to allow deal parties to review key artifacts, including confidential financial and business information. Once in Diligence, dealmakers can also save time by using a project inbox, which allows them to email files directly into the project.

“With Datasite’s Prepare and other apps, dealmakers can reduce the effort and cycle time spent on managing deals or other capital transactions by up to 45%,” said Desmond Chua, Datasite Chief Revenue Officer for APAC. “As a result, it’s become quite popular with our customers.”

The platform features a single secure document repository, enabling users to execute all deal preparations and due diligence tasks in one place to avoid the movement of files from different locations or duplicating tasks such as building an index and setting up permissions to start due diligence. Once all deal preparation tasks are completed, users can start due diligence with a single click.

In 12 months, one in five investment banking projects on Datasite’s platform began in Prepare, including 3,000 projects with over 57 million pages of content.

Datasite’s innovation in streamlining management of the various parts of the M&A lifecycle is the reason for the company’s recognition as the winner of the 2022 Technology Excellence Award for the Fintech - Mergers & Acquisitions category, presented by Singapore Business Review. In its fourth year, the awards event lauds companies in Singapore that have pioneered ground-breaking IT products, solutions or initiatives that are leading the technological revolution and digital journeys of their respective industries.

Dealmakers in more than 170 countries have completed their deals in Datasite, including one third of 2021’s top 100 global deals, more than a fifth of the APAC region’s 2021 top 14 deals, and Singapore’s largest deal in 2020, as well as many fundraisings by several of Southeast Asian and Singapore unicorns.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source. Lorem Ipsum comes from sections 1.10.32 and 1.10.33 of "de Finibus Bonorum et Malorum" (The Extremes of Good and Evil) by Cicero, written in 45 BC. This book is a treatise on the theory of ethics, very popular during the Renaissance. The first line of Lorem Ipsum, "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet..", comes from a line in section 1.10.32.
