Singapore Airlines appoints William Fung Independent Director

Dr William Fung Kwok Lun will assume the post of independent director with Singapore Airlines’ Board with effect from 1 December this year.

Dr Fung, 60, is Group Managing Director of Li & Fung Limited, a multinational group of companies headquartered in Hong Kong. He has received numerous awards and accolades for his business contributions including the Silver Bauhinia Star by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in 2008.

With extensive knowledge of the Asia-Pacific region and in particular the fast- growing Chinese market, Dr Fung is expected to bring a network of business connections to the table for Singapore Airlines’ Board.

In addition to his appointment as an independent, non-executive director, he will be a member of the Board Audit Committee.

Dr Fung is a non-executive director of HSBC Holdings and Deputy Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation. He is also an independent non-executive director of Shui On Land and VTech Holdings, among other directorships. He is a Council Member of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Other positions include Chairing the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, Hong Kong Exporters’ Association and Hong Kong Committee for the Pacific Economic Cooperation Council.
