VTL program sets sights on Greece and Vietnam

Applications for these countries are set to open on 13 March.

Two new Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) programs targeting Greece and Vietnam were announced as part of the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore’s (CAAS) efforts to rebuild the Lion City’s air hub. 

Travellers from the two countries may enter Singapore beginning 16 March 2022, with applications for these countries opening on 13 March at 10:00. Short-term visitors and work permit holders eligible to travel must apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) to enter Singapore under the agreement. 

Meanwhile, fully vaccinated Singapore citizens, permanent residents, long-term pass holders, and in-principle approval holders, as well as children aged 12 years and below do not need to apply for a VTP to enter Singapore. 

With Vietnam planning to reopen its borders beginning 15 March, two-way quarantine-free travel between the two will resume. 

CAAS’ latest announcement also revealed the broadening of travellers visiting or coming from Europe with the inclusion of the European Economic Area (EEA). Through this, travellers can now move between the entire EEA, taking effect beginning 16 March. 

Through this, tourists who have been in any country in the EEA, including any transit stops, may count their stay in the EEA country towards the fulfilment of the seven-day VTL travel history requirement. 

As of 3 March, over 348,518 VTPs have been issued for entry into Singapore between 8 September 2021 and 16 March 2022. 456,215 travellers have entered Singapore, with 132,099 of these being short-term visitors, 119,289 being long-term pass holders and IPA holders, 167,380 Singapore citizens and permanent residents, and 37,447 children aged 12 years and below.
