Tiger Airways reports 43% increase in passengers

5.6mln passengers chose to fly with carrier from October 2009 to September 2010.

Tiger Airways reported strong passenger volumes and load factors in September 2010.

From October 2009 to September 2010, a total of 5.6 million passengers chose to fly with Tiger Airways, an increase of 43% over the 3.9 million passengers in the preceding 12 months. Average load factor for the 12-month period to September 2010 was 86%, an increase of 4 percentage points year-on-year, according to a Tiger Airways report.

For the month of September, Tiger Airways carried 464,000 passengers, a 17% increase as compared to the same month last year. The average load factor across both airlines in Asia and Australia for the month was at 87%.

Tony Davis, President and Group CEO of Tiger Airways Holdings, said, “We are pleased to report continued solid growth for the Group in September, despite the technical issues with two of our aircraft impacting on our Singapore operations which resulted in a number of cancellations.

“Forward bookings for the Group remain strong, in particular during the peak travel period from December to February. Tiger Airways Australia will shortly take delivery of an additional aircraft and will commence its third base at Avalon in Victoria in November” said Tony Davis.

Tiger Airways Holdings Limited will announce its financial results for the second quarter of the current financial year (quarter ended 30 September 2010) on 2 November 2010.
