Singapore to house new air traffic control command center

The centre will allow collaboration between stakeholders to improve air traffic management.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) plans to establish a centralised command centre in Singapore over the next few years to improve air traffic management (ATM).

The command centre enables air traffic controllers (ATCOs) to collaborate with other professionals, including data scientists and meteorological specialists to optimise decision-making in air traffic control.

“Such an arrangement will encourage the exchange of ideas” Amy Khor, Minister of State for Transport, said during the 63rd International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations.

Khor also mentioned that the centre will serve as a test bed for developing applications that will further enhance ATM.

Earlier in the year, CAAS set up the International Centre for Aviation Innovation (ICAI) to drive innovation by tapping governments, industries, and research institutes around the world.
