Singapore Airlines, Scoot to replace 5% of total fuel requirements with SAF by 2030
The airline group is already in discussion with fuel suppliers.
Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group aims to replace 5% of the total fuel requirements of their two carriers – SIA and Scoot – with sustainable aviation fuel by 2030.
Sustainable fuels can reduce carbon emissions by up to 80% on a life-cycle basis compared
to conventional jet fuel, making them critical to the group’s goal of achieving net zero carbon emission by 2050.
The group is already discussing with fuel suppliers on opportunities to purchase sustainable aviation fuels.
SIA recently concluded its 20-month SAF pilot with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and GenZero.
Under the pilot, 1,000 tonnes of neat SAF were imported, blended in Singapore, and uplifted via Changi Airport’s fuel hydrant system on SIA and Scoot flights.
