SIA passenger traffic up 7.4% in August

Its passenger capacity remained steady at 32% of pre-COVID levels.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced that it saw the number of its passengers grow by 7.4% month-on-month in August. Meanwhile, its passenger capacity remained steady at an estimated 32% of pre-COVID levels. 

Due to this, a passenger load factor (PLF) of 17.5 was registered, with this being 1.2 percentage points (ppts) higher than the prior month, but 1.3 ppts lower year-on-year (YoY).

SIA Cargo, meanwhile, recorded a monthly cargo load factor (CLF) of 87.6%, a 5.8 ppts increase YoY. Cargo loads also saw a rise by 56.2%, due to a 46% increase in capacity.

Various routes, such as East Asia, Americas, West Asia, and Africa saw YoY increases in CLF. 

SIA’s group passenger network included 67 destinations, whilst Scott, SIA’s subsidiary, serviced 25 destinations. On Scoot’s end, the Berlin service was reinstated in August, while Nanjing faced a temporary suspension. Operations to West Asia for the subsidiary also remain closed.
