SIA Group's passenger load factor down 12.1 ppt in February

Its passenger carriage slid by 17% YoY.

The passenger load factor (PLF) of Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group fell 12.1 percentage points (ppt) YoY to 69.1% in February as the COVID-19 continues to hit the overall tourism sector, an announcement revealed.

Likewise, SIA Group airlines' passenger carriage slid by 17% YoY. The capacity for the same period also dipped 2.4%.

SIA’s PLF slipped by 13 ppt YoY to 67.4% in February whilst its passenger carriage fell 12.5% YoY, against a 4.3% increase in capacity. PLF declined for all route regions, in particular for the East Asia route region.

SilkAir's system-wide passenger carriage crashed 37.8% YoY against a 20.1% decline in capacity. This led to a 17.2 ppt YoY decline in PLF to 60.6%, as all route regions recorded declines.

Meanwhile, Scoot recorded passenger carriage decline of 25.9% against a capacity contraction of 20.4%, which led to a 5.9 ppt YoY decrease in PLF to 79.4%.

In addition, the overall cargo load factor (CLF) was 3.5 ppt higher with growth in cargo traffic (measured in freight tonne-kilometres) of 8.6% exceeding 2.1% expansion in capacity. East Asia and Americas registered improvements in CLF.
