SIA Group's passenger load factor up 1.2 ppt to 84.8% in September

Passenger carriage grew 8.7%.

SIA Group airline’s passenger load factor (PLF) rose by 1.2 ppt to 84.8%, an announcement revealed. Passenger carriage grew 8.7% YoY in September, outpacing the capacity growth of 7.1%.

However, cargo load factor (CLF) fell 5.6 ppt to 59.5%, attributed to the 9.7% decline in cargo traffic outpacing the capacity contraction of 1.2%. The decline reflected across all route regions.

Singapore Airlines' (SIA) PLF grew 1.0 ppt YoY to 85.4% in September. Its passenger carriage in revenue passenger kilometres expanded 9.2% YoY, against a 7.9% capacity injection measured in available seat-kilometres.

Most route regions registered growth in PLF, with West Asia and Africa climbing 4.8 ppt to 83.1%. East Asia posted a 0.8 ppt improvement in PLF despite weakness in Hong Kong, whilst Americas' PLF declined 1.7 ppt due to strong capacity growth.

At the same time, SilkAir’s PLF grew 3.7 ppt to 77.3% with the systemwide passenger carriage rose 7.2% against a 2.1% increase in capacity. Scoot's PLF climbed 1.4 ppt to 85.2%, with passenger carriage growing 7.4% against a capacity injection of 5.6%.
