SIA to deliver new aircrafts in 2018

The new aircrafts will be used for non-stop flights to New York and Los Angeles.

CIMB reported that Singapore Airlines (SIA) will deliver new-generation aircrafts this year.

New generation of A380s will be used this year, as well as medium-haul 787-10s and A350-900s to replace the old 777s on regional routes.

SIA has already unveiled its new long-haul A380 plane, whilst SilkAir, which is SIA’s wholly owned subsidiary, recently unveiled 737 MAX 8s to replace A319 and A320 fleet.

Further, SIA’s new generation of aircrafts offer new revenue opportunities.

SIA will receive all seven ultra-long-haul versions of the A350 this year, enabling it to commence non-stop flights to New York and Los Angeles.

The long-haul version of the A350-900s open up longer and thinner options in Europe that cannot be economically served using its 777-300ERs. SilkAir’s MAX 8s will help it serve longer routes, which it cannot serve using its current fleet types, including to Hiroshima.
