Number of Changi Airport passengers jumped 5.1% in April

There were 5.43 million people that flew through the airport in the month.

Changi Airport handled 5.43 million passenger movements in April, marking a 5.1% increase from last year. Aircraft movements also grew 4.6% to 31,990 landings and takeoffs, whilst cargo shipments grew 4.5% to 179,410 tonnes.

According to its operating indicators, strong passenger traffic growth from South Asia was underpinned by India (+18%) and Sri Lanka (+24%). Amongst Changi’s top ten country markets, China (+11%), Vietnam (+10%) and Japan (+7%) also registered good growth.

Passenger traffic to and from Europe increased by 13%, boosted by travel on new services to London and Munich.

As at 1 May 2018, more than 100 airlines operate at Changi Airport, connecting Singapore to some 400 cities in about 100 countries and territories worldwide. “With more than 7,200 weekly scheduled flights, an aircraft takes off or lands at Changi roughly once every 80 seconds,” the company added.

The airport added that it welcomed four new stores in T1, T3, and Basement 2 (B2).
