Lufthansa upgrades Singapore ops with A380 on European flights

The german flag carrier, which just introduced new baggage allowance rules, says it will grow its passenger traffic 25 % to Singapore.

Singapore-Jakarta route to be served by A340 flight from Munich

As of 30 October 2011, Lufthansa will serve its South-East Asian gateway in Singapore with a brand new Airbus A380. Lufthansa currently flies its flagship A380 aircrafts to Frankfurt, Tokyo, Beijing, Johannesburg, New York, San Francisco and soon Miami.

Singapore will be served daily by Lufthansa’s A380 on the Frankfurt route that connects into the airline’s main hub in Germany. This offers fast connections into Lufthansa’s large European, North American and African networks.

Lufthansa is the leading European airline group with the largest network of European destinations. With its partners, Austrian Airlines, bmi, Brussels Airlines and Swiss International Air Lines, Lufthansa offers 156 European destinations. With the opening of a new runway at the Frankfurt airport this summer and a completely new gate-area at Lufthansa’s exclusive terminal soon, the airline is well prepared for further growth and improvements for its passengers.

With the new A380, Lufthansa is also launching completely new First and Economy Class cabins along with its award winning Business Class in its South East Asian markets. Lufthansa has developed new cabins in collaboration with its frequent flying customers and introduces for the first time on a commercial jetliner technologies and materials from Lufthansa Technik’s private-jet workshop in Hamburg.

“We are proud to bring to Singapore our new A380 First Class cabins which are the quietest cabins in the skies,” says Christian Altmann, Regional Director of Lufthansa German Airlines in Singapore.

Lufthansa also plans to increase its capacity at the Singapore Changi Airport by 25 percent come winter 2012. “Our passengers love to connect via this world class hub and enjoy convenient connectivity on many of the code-share flights with our Star Alliance partner, Singapore Airlines,” adds Mr. Altmann.

Lufthansa’s customers travelling to and from Indonesia can also look forward to an upgrade as Jakarta will be served via Singapore on a daily basis by Lufthansa’s Airbus A340 from October 30, 2011. The flight connects into Lufthansa’s hub in Munich with its award winning Terminal 2 with fast connections to more than 120 Lufthansa destinations. The minimum connecting time at Lufthansa’s exclusive terminal in Munich is only 30 minutes. The new Jakarta-Munich-flight will stopover in Singapore and also connect conveniently to the A380-flight to Frankfurt.
