Google Flights takes off in Singapore

Tickets from more than 300 airlines and online travel partners can be booked through Google’s new feature.

Google rolled out its new search engine feature in Singapore that will allow travellers to compare flight options and explore new travel destinations easily, an announcement revealed.

Dubbed as Google Flights, users can simply key in search terms “flights to” followed by the name of their travel destination for the best routes and fare prices. The feature can be accessed via most mobile devices, tablets and laptops.

One-way and multi-city tickets can be booked from more than 300 airlines and online travel partners through the service, all of which can be filtered by cabin, class, airlines and number of stops. Flight prices are updated approximately once every 24 hours, according to Google.

In addition, travellers that not ready to book a trip can receive emails to track price changes for a flight or route. Google Flights also has an ‘explore’ function is also available which offers ideas based on popular destinations or activities they are interested in.

“You’ll see a notification in Google Flights, get an email or get a mobile notification when prices for a route you’re viewing will likely go up or when the current fare for a flight will expire soon and the new fare will likely cost more,” Google said on its website. “This includes an estimate of how much prices will likely go up and our confidence in each estimate.”

"If you want to get away for a holiday next month just choose 'January' and a trip duration like '2 weeks' to see the dates with the lowest prices to visit each place," Google added.
