First in Asia: Tiger launches direct flight to Colombo

Tiger Airways is the first regional low cost carrier to fly to Colombo.

Tiger Airways, Singapore’s leading low-cost carrier, launched the inaugural direct service between Colombo and Singapore today.

TR2572 arrived in Colombo at 2205hrs to mark the first regional low-cost flight between Colombo and Singapore.

With Tiger Airways Singapore’s strong track record – with a near 100% flight completion in 2011, punctuality rate of over 85%, a young fleet of under three years of age, and great value offerings, the Airline expects the new service to be well-received by travellers.

Tiger Airways’ direct service between Colombo and Singapore will provide more options at great value fares for leisure and business travellers,” said Dave Perring, Tiger Airways’ Commercial Director. “Singapore is now a hop away for Sri Lankans wanting to explore the sights and sounds of the garden city. Tickets are now available from SGD 98 one-way (Singapore to Colombo) all-inclusive and LKR 8,600 one-way (Colombo to Singapore) all inclusive. Tiger Airways operates the service three times a week on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
