Daily Briefing: Singaporeans hailed as APAC's fourth kindest traveler; Two GCBs up for sale at over $40m

And Scoot eyes growth in 2020 amidst fleet expansion.

Singaporeans are the fourth kindest travelers in Asia Pacific, lagging behind Australia, New Zealand, and India, according to a study by Brand Expedia.

Based on a survey of over 18,000 adult travellers in 23 markets globally, including 600 adults in Singapore, it was found that helping someone with their luggage was the most common act of kindness by Singaporean travellers on a flight, with two in five locals having done so at least once before.
Among the other acts of kindness, three in 10 (32%) Singapore travellers have offered to switch seats with another passenger so that his/her travel companion can sit together, and one in five (20%) have shared travel tips and recommendations with a stranger on a flight.

Scoot CEO Lee Lik expects growth to pick up in 2020 as more aircraft will be added to its fleet along with the expansion of its route network.

Its sister carrier SilkAir had previously planned to transfer 14 of its Boeing 737-800NGs to Scoot, but this has been put on hold as SilkAir was affected by the grounding of its six 737 MAX jets and was short of planes to operate its routes.

On top of that, Mr Lee revealed that Scoot has extended the lease of one A320 and held back on the disposals of two other A320s. It will, however, dispose of an older A319, bringing its fleet to 47 aircraft.
