Changi Airport Terminal 4 to start operations in October

The airport’s total capacity will now reach 82 million.

Changi Airport Group (CAG) Terminal 4 (T4) will be fully operational on 31 October 2017.

According to a press release, the operations of the nine T4 airlines will be shifted over one week.

On 31 October, Cathay Pacific and Korean Air will be shifted over. On 2 November, Cebu Pacific Air and Spring Airlines will follow. The shift will be capped by AirAsia Group and Vietnam Airlines on 7 November.

The first arriving and departing flights will be operated by Cathay Pacific, with CX659 from Hong Kong and CX650 to Hong Kong.

The airport began with table-top exercises to improve procedures then progressed ground deployment exercises.

Fast and Seamless Travel (FAST) self-service options were also tested for travel processes like check-in, bag drop, and immigration and boarding.

CAG also conducted over 100 commercial flight trials with 1,500 volunteers and 2,500 staff.

Tan Lye Teck, CAG executive vice president (Airport Management), said, “The past months have been a very crucial period for us as we conducted intensive tests and trials, not only to ensure that the systems work well but also to understand how passengers navigate the new terminal, including interacting with initiatives such as FAST which may be less familiar to them."

CAG expects T4 to add over 16 million passengers per annum, bringing the airport's total capacity to 82 million.
