Singapore inks deal to open skies for Peru

Airlines of Singapore and Peru will be able to fly between countries with no restrictions.

Singapore signed an Open Skies Agreement with Peru on 16 October, 2018, an announcement by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) revealed. Under the agreement, airlines from both countries will be allowed to fly any number of passenger and cargo services between both countries with no restrictions on capacity, frequency, aircraft type or routing.

The agreement also enables cargo carriers from both countries to use the other country as a hub for operations to any third country.

“The agreement will open up new opportunities for our carriers and enable greater connectivity for people and goods. It will also bring benefit and promote business, tourism, and economic exchanges between our two countries,” Bernard Lim, senior director for International Relations and Security at MOT, said.

The agreement was signed by Lim and Peru’s vice-minister of transport Carlo César Arturo Estremadoyro Mory.

With this agreement, Singapore has concluded Air Services Agreements with over 140 States and Territories, according to the announcement.
