Singapore Airlines launches digital innovation blueprint programme

It aims to improve digital technology and open innovation in Singapore.

Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced the launching of its Digital Innovation Blueprint programme, which aims to boost its digital capabilities, in partnership with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Economic Development Board (EDB) and National University of Singapore (NUS).

SIA has been promoting innovation culture across the Group through digital projects, as well as supporting employees through digital innovation and design, and agile methodologies training.

The airline will also set up a digital innovation lab to allow the staff to work with start-ups, established incubators and accelerators, promoting fresh ideas and facilitating collaboration.

Its partnerships with CAAS and EDB are for joint support to digitalise the airline’s aviation and aerospace ecosystem, as well as promoting traveller-centric convenience, whilst its partnership with A*STAR aims to develop smart solutions to reduce maintenance costs, lessen flight delays, and boost service standards.

Further, under the agreement with NUS, both parties will conduct joint research projects, and create new technologies, focusing on the long term process.
