SilkAir to transfer Busan service to SIA

Seat capacity has been increased by 76%.

Singapore Airlines’s (SIA) regional wing SilkAir will be transferring its services to Busan in South Korea to SIA starting 28 October, which will boost its seat capacity on the route by 76% according to a press release.

Sales for the new Busan flights start on 12 September, and customers with existing bookings on SilkAir’s Busan flights on and after 28 October will be re-accommodated on SIA’s flights.

The route will be served with an Airbus A330-300 aircraft, which has 30 Business Class and 255 Economy Class seats. A330s can accommodate up to 123 more passengers per flight than SilkAir’s Boeing 737-800s, which currently serve the Singapore-Busan route.

SIA will maintain SilkAir’s current flight frequency at four times per week, subject to regulatory approvals.

In addition to Busan, SIA and low-cost subsidiary Scoot operate a total of 31 weekly flights to Seoul in South Korea.
